Injured soldier takes first ride-out

Injured soldier and biker Andy Reid has completed his first ride-out as preparation for a Lands End to John O’Groats charity ride later in the year.

The soldier lost both legs and an arm in an explosion in Afghanistan in 2009 and has battled back to fitness.

Reid wants to ride from Lands End to John O’Groats on a specially adapted trike built for him by Boom Trikes.

A procession of forty bikers and their families turned up to support Andy as he started his journey from St Helens.

The trip was designed to help raise awareness for Help for Heroes – a charity helping injured servicemen and women.

The event also helped to raise £189.53 for the charity.

‘The Numbumrun’ – an 800 mile journey from John ‘O’ Groats to Land’s End – takes place during August Bank Holiday weekend.
