The director of a motorcycle dealership that went bust owing customers thousands previously owned another bike showroom which folded in similar circumstances.

Police are investigating allegations of theft and fraud following the collapse of Roger Constable’s latest venture, Midlands Superbikes in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

Customers say the business failed to return bikes which had been taken in for repairs or servicing. Up to 20 other says they had left machines under a sale-or-return agreement and received neither payment nor the bike back.

Now MCN can reveal that similar accusations were levelled at a dealership owned by Constable, 56, in the 1990s.

Cat Motorcycles in Ashford, Kent, folded in 1995 and was also alleged to have failed to return customers’ bikes.

Retired Kent Police Inspector Malcolm Herwin told MCN: “When the dealer folded there were quite a few motorcyclists who lost money having placed their bikes for sale with the business.”

It’s understood Constable was not found to be responsible for any wrongdoing in relation to Cat Motorcycles.
