Unrestored Brough predicted to hit £38,000

An unrestored 1937 Brough Superior SS80 is estimated to reach between £32,000 – 38,000 when it goes for auction next month.

The 980cc V-twin, similar to the one famously ridden by TE Lawrence (‘of Arabia’) is one of the stars of the Bonhams sale at Beaulieu on September 10.

The high estimate, despite the bike’s unrestored condition, reflects Brough’s continuing reputation as ‘the Rolls-Royce of motorcycles’ in the classic world.

Other bikes at the auction include a 498cc NUT V-twin, one of just five built for the 1919 TT and estimated at £22,000-28,000, a 1937 499cc Rudge Special, valued at £6000-8000  and a 1950 998cc Vincent Black Shadow, estimated at £30,000 – £35,000.
