Billing bikefest a success

Billing Aquadrome in Northampton has hosted many a bike club rally over the years but at the weekend it staged its very own show, The Billing Bikefest!

The atmosphere was like that of a decent club weekender but with the benefits of a bigger show including various trade stands and stunt displays etc in the arena. The weather, like the venue, was perfect for the event, visitors and exhibitors were having a great time which combined to create a great day out with a family friendly ambience.

Many show-goers took advantage of the camping facilities available and made a weekend of it, while a variety of bands played on the Friday and Saturday evenings in the marquee.

Saturday saw a steady stream of visitors but on the Sunday they arrived thick and fast with the bike parks almost full by midday.  There was everything you’d hope to see at a bike show: trade stands selling everything from bargain gear to oil and pads; bike club stands featured everything from classic FS1Es to awesome one-off custom bikes and there was even a best in show competition for anyone who wanted to enter their machine.

Vin Egan from V-Bikes is no stranger at these types of events. He arrived and set up his autojumble stand on the Thursday. “We’ve had a good weekend. I’ve enjoyed the music, a few ales and sold plenty of bits and bobs – even a bike. We’ll be leaving happy,” he said.

Overall the event was deemed a great success enough to hopefully make it a permanent fixture on the events calendar.
