Rossi Desmosedici at Goodwood

The world-famous Goodwood  Festival of Speed – the largest motoring garden party in the world – takes place once again on July 11-14 this year, and one of the big stars of the show will be an ex-Rossi Ducati MotoGP bike.

The GP11 model, owned by British collector Chris Wilson, will be ridden by ex-GP star Randy Mamola. That’s assuming Wilson doesn’t have second thoughts after Mamola’s accident at Catalunya at the weekend.

The American dislocated his shoulder and damaged his hand after losing control of the Ducati pillion experience bike, crashing heavily and skittling his pillion down the track. It’s his first crash in some 2200 pillion rides since he started doing them for Team Roberts in the late 1990s.
