Norton to expand into stately estate

1 of 2

Norton has bought, and is to move its production into, the nearby Donington Hall and surrounding 25-acre estate, the firm announced today.

The shock move sees the currently Donington race circuit-based manufacturer buy the stately home, the adjoining, modern 45,000 sq ft Hastings Hall – which will become Norton’s new production and design facility – and the surrounding 25 acres. Donington Hall is the former HQ of BMI. Norton has bought it from BMI owners British Airways in a move part-brokered by North West Leicestershire MP Andrew Brigden.

Norton CEO Stuart Garner said the purchase is the first step in Norton’s planned expansion. “Donington Hall conjures up a uniquely British way to show style, strength and quality which are all great attributes of the Norton brand.”

Mr Brigden, added: “The fact a local manufacturing company like Norton are taking on the building and creating jobs is excellent news.”
