Bike of the Day: 1983 Kawasaki GPz1100 Unitrak

The S1000RR or Hayabusa of its day, the big GPz was THE poster bike of 1983. The curvy Unitrak styling didn’t work so well on the whole family (there were 305, 550 and 750 versions as well) but on the 11 it was undeniably handsome.

Being the last and fastest of Kawasaki’s air-cooled 8-valvers, as derived from the original Z1, it’s something of an icon, too, as well as a sure-fire future classic. This example, in original, ‘refreshed’ condition, is about as good as you’ll find and is reasonably priced, too.
