Metzeler announce new Roadtec 01

Metzeler have launched a new high-mileage sport touring tyre called the Roadtec 01 to replace the Roadtec Z8 Interact.

Although the 01 replaces the Z8, it has been developed from a completely new set of criteria and features a totally redesigned tread pattern. The tread on the front tyre is more transversal with respect to the rolling direction of the tyre, which the firms says increases mechanical grip on slippery surfaces.

The rear tyre is comprised of 100% silica on the shoulders and 70% silica mixed with carbon black in the central band, to offer high mileage and grip in corners. The front tyre is comprised of 100% silica.

There will be a Heavy Weight Motorcycles (HWM) version available, offering greater stability for heavier bikes, as well as new sizes for adventure bikes.

The Roadtec 01 will be available from January 2016, with pricing yet to be announced.
