Harley-Davidson’s Battle of the Kings is back for its third year as the firm goes in search of a new 2017 Custom King.

The competition, hailed as ‘the largest bike customisation competition’ in the industry, means Harley’s dealer dudes – from all over the world – will be under even more pressure to create a badass bike to beat the rest. No sweat at all.

“This year we’re challenging Harley-Davidson dealers to bring their own style and flair in customising either an Iron 883, Forty-Eight or Roadster model to truly demonstrate the versatility and personalisation that can be achieved using these Dark Custom Sportster models,” said Director of Marketing Operations for Harley, EMEA, Mike Johnstone. “Across all of our dealerships, our technicians are the undisputed ‘Custom Kings’ and are the go-to experts for all things custom. Harley have a rich custom heritage and are the leaders in the custom scene with bikes that combine, style, functionality and attainability. With a solid network of customisation experts and access to an extensive range of 10,000 parts and accessories, we can’t wait to see what this year’s entries.”

Harley launched the competition this week at the German motorcycle show, Intermot, displaying several wild creations.

In keeping with the rebellious theme, the customs must be based on any model from Harley’s Dark Custom Sportster range for the competition held between now and November 2017.

Dealers will have to demonstrate their creative efforts in national competitions to establish a Custom King in each market before the overall winner is crowned at next year’s Milan bike show.
