Get muddy over winter with these finance trail deals

Both bikes listed below give riders plenty of confidence both on road and off, and thanks to the recent popularity of finance, they’re pretty affordable, so you can get out there and get muddy straight away.

Honda CRF250L, £125 (x36)

A firm favourite here at MCN, the CRF250L is a brilliant all-rounder that’s equally happy commuting through the city as it is plugging through deep puddles and up mountains. Good ergonomics, chassis and suspension mean it’s incredibly well balanced. The engine is taken from the CBR250R and re-tuned for more low and mid range. It’s no top speed demon, but it’s spot on for town and trails.

Much like the Honda, the Kawasaki is a compromise – a very good one at that – when it comes to ride quality. It’ll tackle green lanes or cities easily. The engine is dates back 20 years, which means performance isn’t blistering – 70mph is about as good as you’ll get and you have to try exceptionally hard to get the wheel spinning off-road.
