Carl Fogarty and Gary Johnson star at DirtQuake

Four time World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty and TT winner Gary Johnson will go head-to-head this weekend in the Best of British flat track race at DirtQuake.

The two racers will compete for top honours on Sunday, with Foggy also racing against weekend racers and enthusiasts on Saturday. To make it to the final, Foggy will need to finish in the top six over four heats.

TOP STORIES

Foggy took part in the event last year, racing against, err, Marge Simpson. Speaking to MCN after last year’s race he said: “That was crazy, absolutely crazy. I won both heat races and thought ‘I want to try and win the final now’ but made a mistake and ran wide. But yeah, I’ve got the number 2 plate on the bike and that’s where I finished. Oh well, I must admit I’m actually smiling, I’m quite happy about it. You know, three seconds fifteen years ago, I’d have been f***ing mad right now, but it’s great fun, everyone’s so laid back and it’s just a good laugh.”

Fan’s favourite Guy Martin raced in the event last few years, riding a custom-built Harley-Davidson from Krazy Horse in the chopper class.

This year there are eight classes of racing. They are: Inappropriate Road Bike, Street Tracker/Scrambler, Ladies Race, Chopper, Harley-Davidson, Best of British, Scooter, and Learner Legal 125.

DirtQuake takes place at the Adrian Flux Arena, King’s Lynn this weekend, July 8-9. Adult tickets cost £22.50 per day or £39.38 for a weekend ticket. For more information head to dirtquake.com.
