An online auction, featuring custom builds by bespoke motorcycle and fashion brand Deus Ex Machina has come to a close, generating thousands of pounds across eight unique petrol and electric machines.

The auction was hosted across online platform Catawiki and ran from March 22 until April 2, with all of the custom machinery produced at the Deus workshop in Milan. Alongside these bikes, a further 10 older road machines – including a 1989 Ducati 851 – were also on sale.

“All of the bikes in this auction are incredibly special and unique and there is a history behind each one,” Deus Ex Machina Director, Alessandro Rossi said before the auction began. “I want to emphasise the fact that these bikes are not only collectable but are ready to be used and we are excited to welcome them to this auction.”

Four of the eight custom bikes were sold without reserve, including a bespoke Fantic Caballero 500 known as ‘Deus Fuoristrada’. It was expected to fetch between €10,000 (£8500) and €12,000 (£10,200) and eventually sold for €7500 (£6400) after 35 bids. That’s just £830 more than the cost of the standard donor bike.

Finished in striking yellow and red, work on the bike included a modified swingarm and suspension components. There’s also a new saddle, plus a 70s style numberplate holder.

Elsewhere, a bike that exceeded its asking price was the ‘Deus Double Mate’, based on a 2023 Husqvarna 701 Supermoto. Initially expected to go for between €10,000 (£8500) and €11,000 (£9380), the bidding war ended with a final price of €14,750 (£12,600).

Covered in a special grey and black livery, it’s had very little mechanical changes – now fitted with a fruitier SC Project exhaust, new seat, and replacement mirrors.

“With Deus Ex Machina, we are bringing their cutting-edge design and street-honest industrial art to Catawiki’s passionate global community of motorcycle enthusiasts, just in time for these bikes to hit the roads over the summer months,” the auction firm’s Davide Marelli added.

Other builds in the sale were based on a Yamaha XT600, BMW R nineT, Kawasaki W650, and more.
