About the bike

The MT-09 has been a stalwart in Yamaha’s line-up since 2013, selling by the bucketload. Now Yamaha have been back to the drawing board to make the MT-09 a sharper, more aggressive tool. But is it still the fun-loving all-rounder that made it so popular in the first place?

The riding position has been heavily altered, which means that the 2024 MT-09 feels drastically different from the previous iteration and is more akin to the sportier nakeds in its stance. Not only are there a new seat and tank, the ’bars are lower and the ’pegs are further back by a substantial 30mm, and higher by 9mm.

With all of this combined, it now gives the rider more feel, and offers a more engaging riding position. However, the cockpit is still reassuringly spacious and the riding position strikes a decent balance between being exciting and staying comfortable, for riders of all sizes.
