Harley-Davidson have released their own airbag protective vest in collaboration with Dainese. The D-air powered Smart Vest is available for £753.91 and offers protection to the chest and central back, with inflation occurring in 0.2 seconds.

Perforated black leather construction adds typical Harley style and stretch side panels keep things comfortable. An indicator light reports readiness for use as well as battery life – which is said to be 26 hours per charge.

Sensors are said to monitor conditions 1000 times per second to recognise a crash situation. Activation is enabled automatically once the vest detects motion over 6.2mph or when the vibrations of a motorcycle are sensed.

Sizes are available from S to 2XL for men and XS to 2XL for women. Should the airbag detonate, you’ll need to visit your dealer for a replacement airbag and generators, which’ll cost you a further £324.
