BMW S1000RR dyno curve

1 of 1

MCN’s readers correctly spotted a mistake in the comparative test (issue December 16) of BMW’s new S1000RR superbike against the Suzuki GSX-R1000, Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade, Yamaha R1 and Kawasaki ZX-10R.

The actual rear wheel brake horsepower figure supplied by MCN’s usual dynamometer shop was inaccurately reproduced in graph form (p31) by us – although the power and torque figures of 183bhp/79.5ftlb were correct. The revised horsepower graph along with the torque graph are given on the right.

MCN apologises and thanks in equal measure to all its readers who pointed out this genuine mistake. At least it takes nothing away from the fact BMW’s S1000RR at 183bhp remains the most powerful of the latest crop of tested superbikes – it even matches Suzuki’s mighty 1340cc Hayabusa for power.
