Gallery: Where does the Ducati Hyperstrada fit?

1 of 47

By adding panniers and a screen to the Hypermotard, Ducati claim to have given their big supermoto a degree of touring practicality without diluting its inherent fun factor. Does this make the Ducati the best of both worlds?

To find out we pitched it against the maddest supermoto on the market, the Husqvarna 701 and the UK’s best-seling sports-tourer, the Yamaha Tracer 900.

The Husqvarna is powered by KTM’s 690cc single cylinder engine and makes a claimed 69bhp. It’s about as advanced as a dedicated road-going supermoto gets. On the flip side Yamaha’s Tracer 900 is a budget sports tourer based on the naked MT-09 that’s proved a hit across Europe.

Is the Ducati a compromise worth considering?
