Czech supermoto arrives in the New Year

The 610cc Praga four-stroke off-roader has a hand-built engine and aluminium fuel tank, a choice of Paioli or Marzocchi forks and Brembo brakes.

And those features are just part of the appeal of the bike, which comes in either motocross, enduro or supermoto trim.

The one pictured here is in supermoto style, complete with road tyres.

Praga’s main line of business is manufacturing trucks for the armed forces and is also does a line in four-wheel-drive cars for the Paris-Dakar Rally and gearboxes for tanks so it knows a thing or two about making things bulletproof.

The firm has bought out famous Czech brand Jawa and turned its own hand to building bikes.

A deal to bring the bikes to the UK has just been struck and the man responsible, Mike Owens, says: ” These things are unbelievable. They are really popular in Germany and people won’t part with them once they’ve got them. You can’t buy a secondhand one, no-one will sell them. ”

The Praga 610 will be available in this country in the New Year at around £4000.
