New Rotax engine range bound for bikes

1 of 1

ROTAX has patented a new range of engines which will be available for use in motorcycles.

They include a 610cc single, a 1000cc parallel twin, a 1000cc V-twin, plus an inline triple of between 1000 and 1500cc. All are compact, liquid-cooled units with four-valve heads.

The triple also comes in a supercharged variant, which will initially be used in a large watercraft. The V-twin is known to have been specced to be fitted to a snowmobile.

But the patent documents for the range state that all the units have been designed for use in motorcycles.

The Austrian firm has provided engines or designs for many firm’s road and race bikes over the years. Its more recent work includes the BMW F650, Aprilia Pegaso single and Mille V- twin plus the next-generation liquid-cooled Guzzi.
