Yamaha launched its range of 2006 bikes in Paris on Wednesday, September 28, with the new R6 and FZ1 taking centre stage alongside a new MT concept bike.

Check out the photos on the right to see the the first ever in the flesh pics of the new bikes as they rolled on stage amid the glitz and glamour of the Yamaha launch att he Paris Lido.

More details have emerged about the new bikes with the new R6 reving to 17,500 rpm and making peak power of 133bhp from 14,500.

It gets a brand new engine with “Yamaha Chip-Controlled Throttle”, titanium can, slipper clutch and an all new deltabox frame.

The FZ1 will come in faired and unfaired versions and gets 150hp engine, all new lighter, narrower frame and 43mm upside down forks.

The MT-03 gets a 45hp XT660 engine with modified fuel injection, 5-spoke wheels and dual 298mm front disks.

The FJR1300 also got upgraded with a new semi-automatic gearbox. Just flick the switch and the bike changes up or down a gear – no clutch needed.

Also unveiled was the MT-OS concept bike. Taking the MT-01/03 idea one step further to give a more sports oriented bike. It gets big changes to the chassis, body and styling while leaving the MT-01 engine alone. Check out the picture, right.
