Aprilia to release Van Den Bosch replica

1 of 2

IN the world of supermotos they don’t come much cooler than Aprilia’s SXV – but now the firm has made it even better in the form of the new Van Den Bosch replica.

Both the VDB and the stock 2008 SXV get revised engines, including two selectable engine maps, but on top of that the VDB – available in both 450cc and 550cc versions – gets a host of other updates.

The chassis is new, with a lighter rear section, where the die-case alloy is drilled to remove weight. New 50mm forks, with three offset settings, are bolted to billet aluminium yokes.

The front brake is now a Brembo Monobloc radial caliper, with a 320mm wave disc.

While the engine is the same as the stock 2008 SXV, the gearbox gets a slipper clutch, closer ratios and a quickshift to cut the ignition on changes.

On the cosmetic side, the race-only VDB gets billet aluminium hubs, a carbon fibre fuel tank, a stepped seat and Alpina wheels – 16.5-inch front and 17-inch at the rear. The Arrow exhaust is standard, and even the bodywork fasteners are better than stock – they’re all titanium.
