Like all the best ideas, the one for ‘Project Twin Spark’ came up in a bar.

Around this time last year over a few beers in Almeria, John Montgomery, Ducati Sporting Club’s track day organiser decided he wanted to find the perfect track day bike to replace his trusty Yamaha TZ250 – and of course, it had to be a Ducati.

This week we bring you the first ride of the Ducati 1000SS ‘Project Twin Spark’ which MCN’s senior roadtester, Michael Neeves, put through its paces at Donington Park.
