Special versions of the Yamaha R1 and R6 featuring new Ohlins suspension components are to be unveiled at the NEC in Birmingham tomorrow.

An Ohlins TTX 336 rear shock costing £969 features on a list of special parts lavished on both sports bikes.

The special R1 – codenamed Project 14B – has also been given a £2012 pair of Ohlins Road and Track forks, Galfer Wavy brake discs, two-finger ASV levers, Gilles rear sets, a £1033 pair of Akropovic Carbon slip-on exhausts and cosmetic tweaks including a new paint scheme.

The R6, called Project 13S, features similar modifications but with an £832 Ohlins NIX 30mm cartridge fitted to enhance the original forks.

The special editions showcase how the R1 and R6 can be enhanced with accessories.

They are to be unveiled at the Carole Nash Motorcycle Live show alongside made-over versions of the R125 and XJ6 Diversion F, which have also received the Ohlins treatment.
