Indian teases new bike with audio clip

America’s oldest motorcycle brand, Indian, is teasing a forthcoming new bike with an audio clip giving a clear taste of the new V-twin engine sound.

The firm is revealing nothing about the bike in terms of details but the short clip does confirm a new bike is well down the road in terms of development now the firm is under the ownership of the massive Polaris Industries; the same company that owns Victory motorcycles.

Polaris confirmed to MCN at the recent Milan motorcycle show a completely ground-up new bike is less than a year away from being finished.

Former Triumph man and current Polaris motorcycle Director Ross Clifford told MCN: “Then thinking is to never forget the heritage of Indian but also to make sure we look to the future. We see it being a nice balance between 40% looking back at the heritage of Indian and 60% looking forward.

“People forget Indian was once known for innovation. It was the first company to bring out a V-twin engine and it was also the first to use a twist-grip throttle on a production motorcycle. We expect to have a bike ready in 2013 for the 2014 model year.”
