MCN is getting ready for the RC213V-S Launch

1 of 5

MCN will be attending the launch of the new and long awaited Honda RC213V-S in Spain on Thursday. After six years of speculation and rumour the bike will finally be ridden in its finished form.

We will be testing both the standard version, which is 188,000 Euros and produces 159bhp, and the machine with the optional sports kit fitted, which will liven things up and increase the power to 215bhp.

The bike is based heavily on the RC213V factory Moto GP machine, but has normal valve springs instead of the pneumatic valve set-up that Marc and Dani both use. There’s no seamless gearbox, but instead a conventional cassette gearbox, as used in last year’s RCV1000R customer machine. As you’d expect the 90-degree V4 motor is packed with titanium and low friction surfaces.

The frame and braced swingarm are hand fabricated and apes the racer’s machines. The bodywork is made wholly of carbon fibre and Ohlins take care of suspension on both front and rear.

Honda claims 170kg dry and 160kg with the road kit removed and the Sports Kit fitted.

For the first time on a Honda sports bike, there’s an array of electronic rider aids, including variable power modes, traction control, a quickshifter and engine braking control.

We will be bringing you constant updates on the machine throughout the launch as we learn more and more importantly, what it’s like to ride. Check back soon for updates.
