U.S. team withdraw from des Nations events

FOLLOWING the World Trade Centre tragedy of last Tuesday, the American teams for the forthcoming Trial and Motocross des Nations events have been withdrawn.

Next weekend’s Trial des Nations will take place in France, with the Motocross even the following week in Belgium, but with problems and fears over travel still so high for Americans, it has been decided to miss both events, highlights of the off-road calendar.

The U.S MXDN team are the defending champions and had been widely tipped to walk away with the title again this year. The trials team had qualified for the TDN for the first time.

Robert Rasor, the president of the AMA body which oversees all American bike competition, said: “Competing in these events, which are the equivalent of the Olympic games for motocross and observed trials riders, is a highlight of every season for American motorcyclists.

“It’s with great reluctance that we have withdrawn Team USA, but it seems the most prudent course of action.”
