McGrath signs with KTM

KTM have signed American off-road legend Jeremy McGrath. McGrath has been running his own team for Yamaha, under McGrath Racing Inc.

The seven times Supercross champion will race a KTM 250 in AMA Supercross, FIM World Supercross and other selected events in 2003 and 2004, before moving into another role with the company.

The nature of his role in 2005 has not been defined, but it would leave the way open for the 31-year-old to move into team management or a developmental role. McGrath won the Supercross championship seven times between 1993 and 2000, but the recent dominance of Honda’s Ricky Carmichael, eight years his junior, may mean his time as a racer is coming to an end.

McGrath is expected to debut on the KTM at the U.S. Open in Las Vegas in October
