Jefferies misses out on superbike ride

David Jefferies’ dream of a return to British Superbikes is over for another year. His V&M team has failed to come up with the cash to run so the six-times TT winner will be stuck in the Superstock class for a third successive season. Even so, he intends to show superbike bosses the error of their ways by lapping faster than some of those in BSB.

He said: ” My aim is not only to win the championship but also to but in good lap times and grid positions. Although I won’t be competing in superbike I’m sure that I’ll show my lap times are faster than many of the guys in that class. ”

The 2000 champion will be the sole Superstock rider in the Tech 2 Suzuki team.

Jefferies will stay with V&M for the TT where he will ride an updated version of the Formula One-spec Yamaha R1 on which he won the 2000 Senior TT.
