Eighth straight win for Carmichael

With his eighth straight overall victory, Ricky Carmichael has equalled the AMA Motocross record for consecutive wins, and in the process claimed a new national record by winning every single moto this season.

His two victories at Unadilla on Sunday have extended his lead in the AMA championship, and have raised the possibility of him finishing the season undefeated.

Yamaha rider Tim Ferry took overall second with two runner-up places. He matched Carmichael for much of the first race but was unable to challenge for the lead.

Third went to Honda’s Mike Larocco with two third places, fourth was Sebastien Torelli, and fifth overall was Ezra Lusk. FIM World Championship motocrosser Josh Coppins finished sixth overall, taking advantage of a break in the World Championship to test oppostition for the upcoming Moto des Nations.

In the 125s, James Stewart extended his lead over his championship rivals. He showed his confidence by letting Chad Reed pass him, only to retake the lead three turns later. Branden Jesseman finished second overall with a third and second, with Reed eventually finishing third overall.
