Carmichael is AMA Athlete of the year

American motocross star Ricky Carmichael has capped a stella year by being voted the

AMA’s 2002 Athlete of the Year for the second year in succession.

” Mr.Perfect ” as Carmichael is known, had a stunning season, winning every single one of the 24-round series in the blue-riband 250cc class for a perfect haul of 600 points, the first man ever to do so.

After grabbing the AMA Motocross title, Carmichael then took 11 from a possible 16 wins on his way to clinching the AMA’s Supercross title, too.
