Oulton Park names chicane for Hislop

1 of 1

The new chicane at Oulton Park will officially be named Hizzy’s this weekend in memory of British Superbike champion Steve Hislop.

The naming will take place immediately prior to the warm-ups for the races at midday on Sunday. As a mark of respect, Hislop’s 1992 TT winning Norton Rotary will be ridden for one lap by his former team-mate, and Hawick resident, Stuart Easton.

” I understand that Oulton Park was Steve’s favourite UK circuit, ” confirmed BSB series director Jos Foulston. ” Stuart will open the new corner by cutting a ribbon that will be placed across the circuit. His riding through it will officially open the new corner. ”

The Norton will also be on display in garage No 1 all day on Sunday, with fans able to pay their respects during the pit-lane walkabout. The bike will then be positioned at the front of the grid prior to race one, and there will be a one minute silence.

Knockhill, the only British Superbike circuit in Scotland, will also be renaming one of its corners in memory of Hizzy but further details are not yet available.
