Mackenzie to act as ACU rider mentor

Multiple British Superbike Champion Niall MacKenzie has agreed to play a larger part in the ACU Academy’s Rider Mentor program.

MacKenzie has already been a major contributor to the academy over the last two years, providing coaching and advice at the academy’s training days. But he has now agreed to take his commitment a step further and work as a Mentor to one of the Academy’s young riders.

The rider in question is Jon Boy Lee, who will be competing in the 125GP National Championships riding for Team UK1 Racing. Lee has just been given the chance to receive the Academy’s full support package, which includes access to a Sport Psychologist, a Sports Nutritionist, and now personal mentoring from MacKenzie.

MacKenzie was keen to give something back to the sport and jumped at the chance, commenting: ” I will be working with Suzuki at all the BSB rounds this year and it will be nice to pop along and talk to Jon Boy and help him prepare for the race. ”

Team UK1 Racing has also recently signed a deal with ex-GP racer and TT winner Clive Horton, to become the team’s Technical Director. Now running a race workshop in Derby, Horton is also keen to work with Lee after seeing him in a number of Academy practice days and Superteens races.
