Two man battle for AMA Supercross crown

1 of 1

This weekend sees the final round of the AMA Supercross championship at the Sam Boyd stadium, Las Vegas, and the last chance for Australian rider Chad Reed to knock reigning champion Ricky Carmichael off the top spot.

A good performance on Sunday will see Carmichael pick up the championship for the third time in a row, giving him his ninth AMA title win.

But the Honda rider is only 10 points ahead of second place Chad Reed in the championship. If Reed wins on Sunday then ‘RC’ has to finish in at least fourth place to secure the title.

However it looks unlikely that Carmichael will loose out as the same three riders – Reed, Carmichael, and Fonseca – have shared the podium positions in the last five consecutive races.

Carmichael and 125cc rider James ‘Bubba’ Stewart – who in his last seven races has lead 100 out of 105 laps – will also be showing their support for the American troops in the Gulf by wearing custom made camouflage riding gear and ‘patriotic’ helmets from Fox Racing.
