Britain Dougie Lampkin has taken his seventh consecutive World Outdoor Trials championship after finishing third in France on Sunday.

He ties with legend Jordi Tarres, who also holds seven titles, though Lampkin’s championships have come all in a row.

” It has been a great battle this year, ” said Lampkin. ” I have had to fight very hard to win this time around. I can’t tell you how happy I am, and the celebrations are going to last a few days. ”

Lampkin also paid tribute to his team and family. ” My father, mother, cousin James Lampkin and girlfriend Nicola have all played a big part. ”

In the final standings Lampkin topped two fellow Montessa HRC riders, with Takahisha Fujinami and Marc Freixa taking second and third, giving the manufacturer a clean sweep at the top of the table.
