McGuinness wins Junior

John McGuinness has won Wednesday’s Junior TT in a time of 1:15.06 on a Yamaha R6.

McGuinness adds the victory to those he has already landed on the Isle of Man this year in the F1 and Lightweight TTs. He’ll be out practising for Friday’s Senior later this afternoon (June 9, 2004).

At the end of lap one McGuinness was 12.5 seconds ahead of Richard Britton and 14.3 seconds ahead of Bruce Anstey.

At the end of lap two he was 21.2 seconds ahead of Bruce Anstey and 32. seconds ahead of Jason Griffiths.

At the end of lap three he was 27.3 seconds ahead of Bruce Anstey’s GSX-R600.

He finished 17 seconds ahead of Anstey with Griffiths (on an R6) in third, 39.6 seconds down and Richard Britton fourth (+ 1:04.8)

The race was delayed by a road accident early in the morning and finally started at 12.15pm in cloudy conditions.

The Sidecar B event is also due today, as is practice for the Senior. We’ll keep you posted.
