Supermoto titles decided

Christian Iddon has claimed the British SM1 Supermoto title at the final round of the 2005 championship, held at the Three Sisters track.

The three championship favourites qualified with Iddon on pole, Matt Winstanley second and Fred Fiorentino third. The only hope of a title upset was for Iddon to finish badly, and he made hard work of the first race with a third lap mishap. he recovered to take third, behind Winstanley and Ady Smith.

The second race saw Iddon take the title despite a win for Winstanley. A race-long duel with fellow Husaberg rider Sam Warren saw the new SM1 champion take the crown with a third place.

The SM2 championship had already been decided, with Winstanley already crowned champion and choosing to concentrate on SM1 at the last round. Sam Warren and Fred Fiorentino shared the wins, while in the under-15 SM4 class, Gennaro Dichello took two wins to claim the 2005 title.

The 2006 British Supermoto championship begins on January 14 and 15, 2006, at Three Sisters.
