Coppins cops Swedish win

Josh Coppins took two wins to seal an overall victory at the MX Grand prix of Sweden on Sunday, July 3, 2005.

Honda rider Coppins came under fire from KTM’s Ben Townley in the first moto, but was able to hold on to win by 0.4 of a second. KTM’s Jonathan Barragan took third in the first MX1 class Moto with Stefan Everts fourth.

Coppins managed a more dominant win in the second moto, with Joel Smets second, Townley third and Everts fourth after a first corner fall.

Coppins took the overall MX1 win from Townley, Everts and Steve Ramon.

In MX2, Antonio Cairoli took both wins, with Yamaha team-mate Andrew McFarlane taking two second places. KTM’s David Philippaerts took third both times. In the first moto, Britain’s Carl Nunn was seventh and Tom Church was ninth. Nunn improved in the second moto to take a fine fourth place.

The overall results for MX2 were Cairoli, McFarlnae, Philippaerts, and Nunn.
