BSB: Final qualifying

1 of 1

Leon Haslam has taken pole position at Brands Hatch proving that Ducati still a force in British Superbikes – despite there only being one team running the Italian machines.
Haslam finished the first qualifying session in second place behind HM Plant Honda rider Ryuichi Kiyonari, but he managed to up his pace for the second session knocking almost half a second off his time.
Kiyonari couldn’t respond and his qualifying time came from the first session, forcing him to take second place on the grid despite dominating the weekend so far.
Scott Smart and Sean Emmett finish the front row of the grid with Haslam’s temporary team-mate Gregorio Lavilla, who’s filling in for James Haydon, taking fifth.
Michael Rutter, Glen Richards and Karl Harris finish off the second row.
Current champion John Reynolds managed to qualify in 12thplace despite still walking on crutches after breaking his leg earlier this year in a testing crash.
We’ll bring you full updates from both races tomorrow, with the first racing starting at 1:45pm followed by the second race at 4:15pm.

Check out MCN this Wednesday for a full behind the scenes analysis of the first round of the championship.
