The British Superbike championship reaches round two at Donington Park on Sunday April 9 with the promise of sunshine and light showers to challenge the racers.

Championship leader Gregorio Lavilla faces strong competition from his Airwaves Ducati team-mate and local hero Leon Haslam. Leon’s dad Ron runs the Haslam Race School at the East Midlands circuit. Both Haslams were present at the opening of improvements to pit facilities at the track last Friday (see link, right).

This weekend’s BSB round is the first major race series to take advantage of the new facilities.

Other riders hoping to make an impact at Donington include HM Plant teamates Karl Harris and Ruichi Kiyonari, Stobart Honda’s Michael Rutter, and the Rizla Suzuki pairing of Shane Byrne and James Haydon – who have just returned from a confidence-builidng two-day test in Spain.

Donington Park is lat Castle Donington, Derby, DE74 2RP, just off Junction 23a of the M1, and next to East Midlands Airport.

Prices on the day cost £5 for an adult on Friday (practice), £10 on Saturday (qualifying)and £25 on the gate on Sunday (race day).
