Tackling dodgy minibikes

The Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCNI) has teamed up with Trading Standards and The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), to clamp down on poor quality mini bikes flooding the UK.

The three organisations are identifying ways of removing unsafe minibikes and driving up quality standards. A number of importers have already surrendered bikes for destruction, however these machines and their misuse are still damaging the image of motorcycling.

“Dealers who consider joining the mini-bike bandwagon should consider the quality and aftersales support offered,” said MCI technical director Tom Waterer. “They should always remind customers the bikes can only be used on private property with the permission of the owner.
