British MX: Rd 1

1 of 1

Reigning British MX1 champion Josh Coppins began his title defence with a win at the opening round of the championship at Cadders Hill on Sunday, March 12, 2006.

Coppins took the overall victory despite a strong challenge from CAS Honda team-mate Ken De Dycker, who took victory in the first MX1 Moto. In the second race De Dycker almost crashed as he challenged for the lead, settling for second. Top Brit James Noble took third overall from Stephen Sword and Gordon Crockard.

In the MX2 class, wildcard Marc De Reuver took the overall win with victories in both Motos. Reigning champion Carl Nunn had to settle for second in the first race behind his KTM team-mate, and led the second Moto until his bike came to a standstill. After some adjustments he was able to restart, eventually finishing fifth, but losing out on an overall second place to Billy MacKenzie.
