Test costs Tommy tip

Vivalidi Racing’s Tommy Bridewell has had to have the top of the little finger of his left hand removed after a crash during the team’s test at Cartagena, Spain.

The 17-year-olds finger was trapped under the handlebar in an off on Friday (Mar 3).

Tommy said: “Obviously I’m gutted to have such an awkward injury from a small off but I really don’t feel too bad in myself. It will be a rush to get fit but I hope to be back on my bike for next weekend’s test (at Almeria, Spain). We will just have to see how quickly it heals.”

Tommy’s older brother, Ollie Bridewell made his debut on slicks at the test, this being his first season on a superbike.

British Superbike regular, Scott Smart concluded: “The GSX-R1000 K6 feels great, it’s really stable and handles well. I’ve put in some reasonably good lap times, Honda were here testing too and only a little bit faster than us, it’s a good gauge.”

The official BSB test is at Snetterton on March 18-19.
