Kiyo tops first practice

Honda’s Ryuichi Kiyonari has been the dominant force in the first day of practice for this weekend’s British Superbike race at Mondello Park.

The Japanese rider came in a close second behind the Yamaha of Johnny Rea in the opening practice session but went on to take provisional pole in the afternoon session.

Ducati rider Gregorio Lavilla came in a close second place followed by team-mate leon Haslam with Rea slipping to fourth fastest.

Kiyonari’s team-mate Michael rutter heads up the provisional second row followed by Shane Byrne, Karl Harris and Glen Richards.
