MX crash for Carmichael

Ricky Carmichael had to settle for second place following a first lap crash, as he begins his final season of competitve AMA motocross.

The reigning champion took the holeshot, but lost the front end of his RM-Z450 just a couple of turns into the 30 minute first race. James Stewart won from Chad Reed, with Carmichael recovering to finish third.

The second final saw Carmichael stay upright as he took the holeshot and converted it into a big lead, but it wasn’t enough. James Stewart took second in the race and won the meeting overall. Chad Reed was third.
