2006 British Superbike Champion Ryuichi Kiyonari has been visiting HM Plant’s headquarters in Hebburn, Tyne and Wear to celebrate his BSB success.

The 24-year-old secured his title at a rain-soaked Brands Hatch in October following 11 wins and five other podiums.

Kiyo met staff at the UK distributor of Hitachi Construction Machinery, who has sponsored the team since 2004, on Monday, November 6. He then made his way to the Gateshead Newcastle Hilton hotel for a celebratory dinner.

“I am looking forward to having the opportunity to say thank you to everyone at HM Plant,” says Kiyonari.

“I have received a lot of support from the company over the past three years and this will be the perfect time for me to be able to show my appreciation.”

Joining him this evening were Steve Plater, double victor at the 2006 International North West 200; John McGuinness who scored a hat-trick of victories and lap records at the 2006 Isle of Man TT; and Jonathan Rea, Kiyo’s team mate for 2007.

James Toseland will also make an appearance.

HM Plant Chairman John Jones said: “We are obviously delighted that Kiyo is taking the time to visit us.”
