Reigning Bemsee Rookie champion Max Hunt began his 2009 campaign in fine style with three wins on his 600 Yamahas at the Bemsee club road races at Brands Hatch.

23 year-old Hunt made light work of the changing conditions on Sunday beating Ross Walter into second place in a red hot opening Supersport race run in glorious sunshine that saw the pair over 20 seconds clear of the field.

Walter (675 Triumph) got the consolation of a club lap record and took the win second time out as rain and high winds set in for the day.

South African Hudson Kennaugh made his 2009 debut on a Phil Seton prepared R6 Yamaha ahead of a full season in the British Supersport championship and was quickly on the pace, lapping just half a second outside Josh Brookes track record on his way to an impressive Powerbike win.

Reigning European Sidecar champions Simon Gilbert and Mark Howard made a great start in the British series to lead the championship after one round with two wins and a fourth on their Suzuki powered outfit
