WSS Qatar: Defeated Pitt Still Leads Points Table

1 of 1

Reigning World Supersport champion Andrew Pitt was generous in defeat after he mounted the podium in Qatar today in second place below race winner Eugene Laverty.

“Second again, but still some good points,” said the 33-year-old Australian, who now leads the series with 40 points after two rounds. “Congratulations to Eugene,” he continued. “He led at the front a lot of laps and he got the win. I thought it was going to go down to the last straight. I thought if I could get him and put the last three or four corners together I might get the break, but I couldn’t get the break.”

His Hannspree Ten Kate team-mate Kenan Sofuoglu holds second place in the championship on 38 points, but the two Brit young guns Laverty and Cal Crutchlow are close behind on 36 points and 29 points respectively.

The battle for the World Supersport crown now resumes at Valencia in Spain on April 5.
