Supercross gears up for 2016 season

The AMA Supercross season is gearing up for the launch of the 2016 season, which kicks off this weekend in Anaheim, California with the first round of the season’s seventeen regular races.

If you’ve never watched Supercross, the short-track, arena-based 450cc motocross class produces some of the best racing on TV. Close, competitive and aggressive, it makes for an action-packed night of entertainment.

Competition is fierce, too, with last year’s runaway winner Ryan Dungey set to face a stiffer year, as a fully-recovered Ken Roczen and Team HRC’s Trey Canard look set to build on strong campaigns in 2015.

This season also sees the return of Supercross legend James ‘Bubba’ Stewart, back from a drug ban and back on the Yoshimura Suzuki he’s been so successful on in the past – and looking to make up on lost time.

On top of that, there’s also the perennial threat posed by Australian Chad Reed. Now the veteran of the class, he’s been cagey so far about his plans, admitting even at this late stage only that he’s on factor-backed Yamaha machinery – but little else.
