Is Ian Hutchinson your 2017 MCN Man of the Year?

1 of 1

After another epic season of racing, MCN’s sports team of Michael Guy (Sports Editor), Simon Patterson (MotoGP reporter) and Oli Rushby (Superbike reporter) sat down to discuss who impressed them the most in each race series we cover – and to whittle down a shortlist of exactly who was the most impressive racers of the season.

With that in mind, we’ve came up with a list of six – but we need your help to cut that down to award the 58th running of our Man of the Year award!

Ian Hutchinson

Ian Hutchinson took yet another duo of wins at this year’s Isle of Man TT to become the third most successful solo rider of all time behind only Joey Dunlop and John McGuinness – and did it in style by breaking his duck in the superbike class and returning to the top step of the podium in the premier category for the first time since his incredible five-in-a-week year back in 2010.

He did it in style, too, dominating the Superstock category for the third year in a row and only missing out on the chance to add to his 16 victories when the second Supersport race of the weekend was rained off in the middle of the week.

However, it wasn’t an easy TT for Hutchinson either, with a high-speed crash in the Senior TT leaving him with a badly broken leg. It hasn’t held the fighter back though, with a new deal signed for Honda in 2018 and the plan firmly to be back to full fitness again.
