When British Superbike organisers adapted the minimum weight regulation for V-twins in May it sparked the biggest riot in recent BSB history.

Shane Byrne’s 44 point leads to an announcement from MSVR stating a minimum weight increase of 10kg for V-twins. GSE and North West 200 both threaten to pull out of the Donington weekend. After receiving information from Ducati Corse, MSVR lower the minimum weight regulation by 5kg for the two races.
The 10kg weight penalty for Ducati takes affect for the first race weekend but GSE still win both races.
Series organisers and race teams agree to scrapping the MCRCB rulebook for 2009 in favour of returning to FIM regulations after just one year away from the World Championship rules.
With two race weekends left, MSVR lower the V-twin minimum weight by 3kg.
