British Superbikes: Ducati to be hit with extra weight

1 of 1

MCN understands there is set to be an official announcement today from BSB organisers to add extra weight to the 1200cc Ducati machines.

The move will come as response to some of the four cylinder teams requesting aftermarket engine parts to close the gap to Shane Byrne and the Airwaves team in particular.

It’s expected that the twin cylinder machines will run with extra weight, as they do in World Superbikes with a six kilo different to the four cylinder machines.

Series and Race Director Stuart Higgs told MCN: “We’ve got three of the most diverse circuits to go to next with Donington, Snetterton and Mallory Park.

“The decision to make this change would be very timely because it will allow us to do a review after these three races to see if the changes have made any difference.”
